The City Council resolves the contract with the company of the Bus Station, which will begin "immediately" the comprehensive restoration of the property

Benidorm approves a budget modification of 8 million of the remaining treasury for aid to families and companies

The plenary session of Benidorm City Council has approved today unanimously a proposal by the Councilor for Treasury, Aida García Mayor, to carry out a budget modification so that eight million euros of the municipal remainder are allocated to aid families and companies, such as part of the budget agreement signed between the government and the socialist municipal group.

The proposal has been included in the agenda by way of urgency with the affirmative vote of the three municipal groups. "With this modification, we fulfil the commitment made in January for the approval of the municipal budget and we save a small percentage in the face of current uncertainties, in addition to leaving the rest of the remainder for various obligations of the City Council" explained Aida García.

On the other hand, in the session, the agreement between the City Council and the bus station company for the resolution and liquidation of the contract for the construction and use of the facility in compliance with the ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) in 2007.

Prior to that point, the modification of the tenth clause of the aforementioned agreement has been unanimously approved, a change that will allow the company to proceed immediately to the integral rehabilitation of the property. “This action is “urgent and will affect the general interest”, explained government spokesperson, Lourdes Caselles.

After the signing of the aforementioned agreement, the company must execute "without further delay and at its own expense" the rehabilitation works of the Bus Station, works that have been valued at 287,141.07 euros by the technicians of an external company. “We have only paid for the external reports for the appraisal” the spokeswoman clarified.

Caselles recalled that the local government "withdrew the awardee status from Enrique Ortiz's company (Estación de Autobuses SL) and the one that has done everything possible to find a solution to this matter without having put us aside with an abstention or one vote against. "We have always gone ahead with what the technicians and the Consell Jurídic Consultiu told us", the mayor added.

In the same session, the green light was also given with the vote of all the political groups to the declaration of social interest for the construction of an athletics sports facility on a plot of public equipment in the Partial Plan 2/1 'Poniente'.

Lourdes Caselles has indicated that the objective of the new installation is "to respond to a new demand and we do it in the Partial Plan 2/1, in which the urbanization work is almost finished". In just a few months, he continued, the developer will deliver the roads and green areas to the city. The government spokesperson has indicated that "the sports facility that is to be created on that plot is compatible with sports and residential use and may lead to European and Spanish teams coming to play sports." In addition, she has specified what the City Council does is allocate Municipal Land Heritage to execute this sports facility "and for this, the declaration of social interest is required."

The plenary has agreed, on the other hand, to the proposal of the Councilor for Finance, Aida García Mayor, to authorize the advance payment of 26,248,619.16 euros from the collection of municipal taxes from SUMA to the City Council. “It is a possibility that is foreseen in the agreement and that is carried out periodically.” The advance will be made from January to September at a rate of 2,916,513.24 euros per month.

The proposal of the Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez, has also been unanimously approved to initiate the procedure for granting the Police Merit Cross with White Badge to two officers and 23 agents of the Benidorm Local Police. This distinction is awarded to Local Police personnel when they have completed at least 25 years of service and have had an exceptional professional career.

In the same sense, all the groups have also approved the beginning of the procedure for the public congratulations of the Generalitat Valenciana to ten agents of the Local Police for the intervention they carried out on January 21 when they rescued and helped the residents of a building affected by the fire of a restaurant located on the ground floor of the same avoiding serious personal damage.

The officers and agents who will be distinguished with the Police Merit Cross with White Badge are: Pedro Sánchez Fernández, María Consuelo Pérez Berenguer, José Francisco Tortosa Muñoz, Julián Victoria Sierra, Antonio Bastida Ruiz, Francisco Montes Gámez, Francisco Ángel González Gómez, Rafael Ávalos Gómez, José Luis Carretero Sánchez, Anastasio Trujillo Navarro, Antonio Lozano Juan, Juan Miguel Igualada Picazo, Esther Fornás Juan, María José Blanquer Romero, Juan Gabriel Casagrande Losada, Ricardo Teruel García, Agustín Angulo Palomares, Vicente Guijarro Gomis, Juan José Lara Marín, Javier Torrá Delgado, José Antonio Romero Rodríguez, Salvador Martínez Martínez, María Ángeles Alonso García and Antonio Domínguez Trillo.
