The four-year contract aims to promote high-quality concerts that will generate an economic impact on the city and its productive sector

Benidorm announces the contract award for holding events at Martínez Munuera football fields

Benidorm notifica la adjudicación del contrato para la celebración de eventos en los campos de fútbol Martínez Munuera

Benidorm City Council has announced the awarding of the contract for holding events during the summer season at the former Foietes athletics track, now converted into the ‘Hermanos Martínez Munuera’ football fields. The joint venture formed by Eventos AFS 2002, Digisat Electrónica SL, and Sonido e Iluminación Limón SLU—the only bidder in the public tender issued by the City Council—will be responsible for promoting and managing events at this facility for the next four summers.

The Councillor for Events, Jesús Carrobles, emphasised that “this contract aims to bring renowned and high-impact musical events to Benidorm at this venue, which can accommodate up to 20,000 spectators, taking advantage of the fact that sporting activity at these fields is suspended during the summer and also leveraging its potential as a multifunctional space.”

Carrobles emphasised that “the aim is to generate a direct economic impact on the city, in the accommodation, retail, and hospitality sectors,” and also “an indirect impact through the promotion that these events will bring.” Furthermore, based on the contract terms, “the City Council will also receive a direct benefit from these events, as the company will pay €0.51 for each ticket sold.”

The Head of Events reiterated that, according to the contract, the company must organise a minimum of three large-scale concerts for between 10,000 and 20,000 people each summer and a maximum of five with national and international artists. It must also organise a minimum of three and a maximum of five concerts for fewer than 10,000 attendees, and set up the necessary infrastructure for the events it organises or for other interested producers.

The company will also adopt specific measures to ensure the smooth running of the shows and a balanced coexistence with residents. Among the measures is a special sound plan designed to minimise disruption to the neighbourhood, incorporating acoustic guidance, sound panels, and enhanced technical controls.

Furthermore, maximum end times for events have been established: weekdays until 12:30 a.m., and weekends until 2:30 a.m.

“Now that the contract is in place, we can begin to take shape the lineup of musical events that Benidorm will offer at this venue next summer,” the councilor noted, expressing his confidence that “the musical offerings coming to our city will live up to the standards that Benidorm deserves and will meet the expectations of diverse audiences thanks to the variety of styles.”
