Benidorm and Anémona commemorate International Breast Cancer Day

This morning a large banner with a pink ribbon has been displayed on the main balcony of Benidorm City Hall. The Self-Help Group for Women with Cancer thus made visible the closeness of the International Breast Cancer Day, an event that it is commemorated worldwide on October 19,

Previously, at a press conference, the municipal head of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, along with the president of Anémona, Maria Botella, and the president of Nautical Club of Benidorm, Jaume Samper, have appeared before the media to present the program of activities, organized in collaboration with the Department of Equality.

Ángela Zaragozí has ​​encouraged neighbors and visitors to participate “in three days that will be intense”, given the effort made by Anémona to be able to count on Benidorm with first-rate professionals who will discuss new treatments and how to deal with the disease, among others aspects. "It is a very good cause, for them and for all, it is worth attending."

The president of Anémona has emphasized the two round tables that will take place on Friday at Voramar hotel. "They will be very interesting," he said, in them "above all we will talk about metastasis" in breast cancer, a topic "very important, as revealed by the latest research."

María Botella has not missed the opportunity to thank the support received by Benidorm society, especially by the City Council and the Yacht Club that gives Anémona its facilities, "a real luxury," said Botella. For its part, Samper said that "we are very happy" that the association uses the Club and has been willing "to lend you everything you need, as we are doing."

It should be noted that the Yacht Club collaborates with Anémona in actions such as the project that starts women who have suffered breast cancer in rowing. It has been certified that this sporting activity is beneficial for the prevention and treatment of the physical and psychological consequences of the disease.

The most massive activity of the International Breast Cancer Day events in Benidorm will be the Solidarity March to be held on Sunday. María Botella has announced that more than 3,300 of the t-shirts designed for the occasion have been sold, all pink clor, printed in white, with which it is predicted that the route along Paseo de Poniente, one more year, will be pink, the colour that symbolizes the fight against breast cancer.

Programming

Friday, October 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ‘I Meeting for us, in the key to the future’, at Voramar hotel. There will be two round tables. The first will be moderated by Elena Herrero; Álvaro Rodríguez-Lescure, Jessica Sánchez and Yolanda Cebrián will participate in it. The second, moderated by Manuel Santos, will feature José M. Arzuaga, Mª José Barea, Chadia Chaouch and Carlos Hernández.

Sunday, October 20. Commemorative solidarity march. Rally at 9.30 am at SS MM los Reyes de España square, departure at 10.00. Subsequently, Zumba session directed by Fabiola Torres.
