Conferences and recreational activities integrate the events to be held from 3 to 10 October
The Association of Relatives and Mental patients of the Marina Baixa, AFEM, in collaboration with the department of Social Welfare in Benidorm and various public and private entities have scheduled a series of activities to mark the International Day of Mental Health, commemorated on October 10. This time, these activities will be held for a week, from 3 to 10 October, as reported by the local government spokesman José Ramón González de Zárate; AFEM president, María Consolación Muro; and the social worker of the association, Sonia Padilla. Zárate explained that these activities seek to "inform, sensitize and educate the population about mental disorders" and made "an appeal to citizens of the whole region to be involved in this week, participating in events and work with AFEM. " The program begins next Monday, October 3, with a conference by the psychiatrist Vicente Elvira, in the Assembly Hall of the City Hall at 18.00. Next day, at the same time will be the turn of the Magistrate Court judge for Disabilities in Alicante, Consuelo Molina, who will speak about 'Judicial and Disability Procedure'. AFEM social worker indicated that "it is a subject very demanded by families as disabilities in mental illnesses have many nuances." Finally, on Thursday 6 October at 19.00, the psychiatrist Pedro Gurillo will give a lecture about 'The influence of tobacco in mental illness'. The following day AFEM users will visit the parks of Terra Natura and Aqua Natura. AFEM president noted that the bulk of activities will be held on Monday 10 coinciding with the Day of Mental Health. At noon at Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España, it is scheduled reading a manifesto, which this time will be sung by the collaboration of the Cultural Manchega 'Tramontana' Association. In total, AFEM serves an average of between 35 and 40 users with mental illness and their families.
