31 + 1 works of art to eradicate gender violence

24 March 2021
31+1 obres d'art per a erradicar la violència de gènere ...

This morning the exhibition of the campaign for the elimination of violence against women was opened to the public, which brings together for the fourth year the creations of the students of the second year of Art Baccalaureate in IES Pere Maria Orts i Bosch. The exhibition, originally planned as one of the activities of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on November 25, must have been postponed due to the health crisis.

The councilors of Equality and Culture, Ángela Zaragozí and Jaime Jesús Pérez, together with the director of the institute, Nacho Gascón; the coordinator of the center's drawing area, Ginés Lloret; and a representation of the young artists have toured the exhibition and have shared some of the experiences lived during the creative process.

Ángela Zaragozí has been very proud after contemplating the works exhibited "31 works plus a poster" that was presented on November 25 as an advertisement for what has been "a curricular work that each year exceeds the level of the previous year." The person in charge of Equality has also highlighted "the involvement" of the students who "each year present more works".

Zaragozí has announced that each of the students will be given a voucher so that they can print their creation in large format (50 x 70 cm) on foam board, to be incorporated into her portfolios.

For his part, Jaime Jesús Pérez has opted to continue carrying out "activities" of this nature from the departments he coordinates, Culture and Youth, with Equality and has announced that after his period in Benidorm, the exhibition will begin a journey through "the institutes of Benidorm, schools and Youth Information Center ”. Likewise, some works will be installed in backlit mupis in the different neighborhoods of the city so that "all the people of Benidorm and those who visit us can contemplate this activity carried out by the Pere Maria students".

Finally, the City Council and the institute will make the posters available to “secondary and primary schools in the region and province of Alicante” free of charge so that they can continue to carry out their awareness-raising work among the educational community.

With this exhibition, the events organized by the City Council for the celebration of March 8th come to an end.
