Easter
Lent is the liturgical time in which we prepare for forty days to reach the most important celebration of the year: EASTER, Passion-Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday; On this day the priest places ashes on our heads, as a sign of repentance and conversion, making us aware of the brevity of our life here on earth.
In this time of preparation, the attitude that Christians must live is PRAYER, a time of personal encounter with God, who calms our spirit, seeking an interior silence, withdrawing as Jesus withdrew in the desert. FASTING and ABSTINENCE, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday FASTING every Friday of Lent, this fast is meaningless if we do not accompany it with prayer and the purpose of amending our sins. ALMS, in this consumer society of inequality and poverty, we are invited to give up material things to share them with those most in need. PENANCE, is a time of conversion, of reviewing our interior, of bringing our sins and darkness to light, to be able to celebrate the sacrament of penance with humility and joy.
By preparing ourselves in this way, we will be able to live, not just another Holy Week, but a time of accompanying Jesus to Calvary through our streets, experiencing processions with devotion and participating in the liturgical acts that commemorate the Easter Triduum to feel joyful on his EASTER. RESURRECTION.
