Despite the fact that the pandemic caused by Covid-19 has forced the cancellation of the Festes Majors Patronals (FMP) of 2020, the festive atmosphere returns, one more November, to the streets of Benidorm in a symbolic way with 46 images and posters historical in the four Espais d'Art Urbà, on urban furniture for the presentation of information, MUPI. An exhibition that includes advertising posters and impressive images captured by the lenses of local artists Simeón Nogueroles, César García, David Revenga and Dori Galiana.

The Department of Historical Heritage has concentrated the essence of the FMP between two centuries and has distributed them in the four exhibition points. Thus, in El Carrasco, Dori Galiana presents the most intimate face of Benidorm's festivities with personal and cared images, of study. In Ponent, David Revenga, gives them a photojournalistic character. Nogueroles and García, in El Pont, take us to a not so distant past. And finally, in Els Tolls, there is a selection of posters from the Municipal Archive.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Historical Heritage, Ana Pellicer; together with the curator of the exhibitions, Alicia Lamarca; the artists David Revenga and Dori Galiana; members of the municipal corporation, family members and the general public participated in the first guided tour of the Espai d'Art Urbà de Ponent that took place last night.

Toni Pérez wanted to value the espais d’art urbà whose purpose is “to capture art throughout the city”. "They are," he said, "museums that are open at all hours and all year round." The mayor recalled the impact in his day of the works of Nogueroles and García "who are no longer among us" and the strength "of contemporary authors [Galiana and Revenga] who have to accompany us in many more parties." Toni Pérez regretted that the current health situation has prevented the celebration of the FMP and encouraged all citizens to behave as before and "to continue fighting so that these days they return to us as soon as possible."

Ana Pellicer, for her part, thanked the work done by image professionals, by the exhibition curator and all the people who "have worked to make it possible by keeping the party alive." David Revenga valued “bringing art to the street as a very good idea” and Dori Galiana wished that whoever contemplates the images “feels the party” as the protagonists of the snapshot experienced it when the moment was immortalized.
