Citizens present around 80 proposals for the Participatory Budget...

The municipal budget has reserved 605,000 euros for projects proposed by residents

Citizens of Benidorm have presented around 80 proposals for their analysis and inclusion in the Participatory Budget for 2021, as reported today by the councilor of the area, Ana Pellicer, who recalled that "for this year 605,000 euros have been reserved in the municipal budget for projects and actions proposed by residents, thus reaching a new investment record ”.

Pellicer recalled that "due to the health emergency situation, this year the procedure for submitting and analyzing the proposals had to be changed". Specifically, for about a month and until last December 29, those registered in Benidorm were able to present their proposals in the General Registry, by email or through the new Citizen Participation platform, https://www.civiciti.com/ is / benidorm. "Once all the proposals presented have been compiled, a Prioritization Commission created by the Neighborhood Council itself will establish the order of the proposals based on the evaluation criteria included in the Participatory Budget Self-Regulation", she specified.

This Commission is expected to meet next week to select and prioritize the proposals received, for later - the week of January 18 - to transfer to the City Council the definitive list of actions, which will be analyzed by municipal technicians to determine their viability and cost , incorporating to the Participatory Budget those that can be executed.

Pellicer highlighted "the good reception that this Participatory Budgeting process has had, even exceeding the number of proposals received with respect to other calls, which shows that citizens are increasingly involved in the process, knowing that the City Council complies and that year after year, since 2016, it executes the proposed actions ”.

Thus, the councillor recalled that "among the actions developed in these five years within the framework of the Participatory Budget are, for example, the rehabilitation of the access ramp to Levante beach in the area of Plaza del Torrejó, the construction of the pedestrian walkway to connect Els Tolls neighborhood with Palau d'Esports, the installation of traffic lights for deaf-blind people, or the placement of adapted children's games in the parks of Elche and l'Aigüera, in addition to numerous works that have made the city's neighborhoods much more accessible ”.

Pellicer thanked the Neighborhood Council for their "great work", since "without their great contribution the Participatory Budget and compliance with each of the proposals incorporated each year in it would not be possible."
