Benidorm tenders the renovation work on Mar street, which will be equipped with all services

19 November 2019
Benidorm licita la obra de renovación de la calle del Mar, a la que se dotará de todos los servicios

The work is included in the municipal budget, valued at 355,000 euros and is key to the water network in the area

Benidorm City Council has published the tender for the contract for the 'Renovation and improvement of water infrastructure in Mar street', which serves as a link between Esperanto street and Via Emilio Ortuño and is key to the operation of the water network in the area . This work is valued at 355,000 euros and its financing included in the 2019 municipal budget, as recalled by the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate.

De Zárate explained that “we talk about a street a little less than 180 meters but that it has a capital importance in the network of sanitation and water supply of the entire environment, hence it is impossible to upgrade its water infrastructure, which has more than 30 years old, to end the continuous breakdowns that affect the service ”.

The councillor said that "as we have been doing in the last four years every time we renew the water infrastructure of a street, we accompany this action of a substantial improvement of the urban scene and aesthetics"; something - he added - that "we are also going to do in this street of the Sea, focusing mainly on providing it with accessibility". In this regard, he pointed out that currently this street has only "a sidewalk just half a meter wide, not guaranteeing accessible transits."

De Zárate has detailed that the project, with an execution period of four months, provides for the complete renovation of the waste network with the installation of a new collector, record wells and household sanitation connections. In addition, it will also provide the street with a rainwater network -for the collection of rainwater- and the water supply will be completely renewed, extending it to Emilio Ortuño Street.

Already on the surface, “Mar street will become a single platform and therefore 100% accessible, following the model of the streets Mayor or Apollo XI”, and variable sidewalk width, defined by two bollard lines and 1, 35 meters of average width. The project also contemplates replacing all current luminaires with others of the type ‘LED’ to “advance in energy saving within the public lighting network”.

Companies interested in executing this work may submit their offer until next November 28. The improvement proposed by the companies will have an impact on the renovation of infrastructure and pavement of Finestrat Street, another of the roads that links Esperanto Street with Via Emilio Ortuño.
