The conference of Dr. Carlos Rubí will be next March 20 at 18:30 in the Assembly Hall of the City Council
The City Council, IMED Hospitals, Anémona and the Local Boards of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) of Benidorm, Altea, l'Alfàs del Pi and La Nucia have organized for next Monday, March 20, a conference about 'Breast recostruction after cancer ', which will address the different medical techniques associated with this surgical intervention.
The conference, which will take place at 6.30 pm in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, and will be conducted by Dr. Carlos Rubí, surgeon at the IMED Levante hospital in Benidorm specialized in Plastic, Repair and Aesthetic Surgery, which throughout his career has trained in different international centers and has been part of the Cavadas Clinic in Valencia.
The Health Councilor of Benidorm, Ana Pellicer, presented this conference with the councillor of the area of Equality, Angela Llorca. A presentation in which also participated Yolanda Pickett, representing IMED Hospitals; Paquita Benaloy, by Anémona; and the presidents of the Local Boards of AECC of Benidorm, Altea and La Nucía, Pepita Orozco, Paquita Ripoll and Lucia Cano.
Pickett has indicated that Dr. Rubí is a "very experienced" surgeon in breast reconstruction, and has announced that in his lecture he will talk about "techniques and the future" of this type of surgery, both from the "microsurgery" As from "robotic surgery".
The representatives of IMED Levante has stressed that with this conference "we want to claim the right of women" to this treatment, public and private health, And added that breast reconstruction is "very important as an integral part of breast cancer treatment," primarily from the psychological point of view and a question of "women's self-esteem." "If it is not done," he said, "it is as if a piece is missing" in the medical treatment of breast cancer.
For their part, Pellicer and Llorca have invited "all women" to attend this conference, which is aimed at the general public and not only those who suffer or have suffered the disease. At the end of the talk, the women present will be able to ask and resolve any doubts that may arise from this intervention.
