The academic event brought together AUNEX students from across the province at Elche Congress Center

Twenty-seven Benidorm residents graduate from the UMH after finishing the University Classrooms of Experience

Twenty-seven Benidorm residents over 55 years of age have graduated this year from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche after studying for the last two years in the University Classrooms of Experience (AUNEX), a training project of the UMH in which the City Council of Benidorm to enhance the culture and well-being of people through a study program immersed in a university environment, without it being necessary to have prior studies.

The academic event took place this Friday afternoon at the Ciutat d'Elx Congress Center, where the Benidorm Social Welfare Councilor, Ángela Zaragozí, went to accompany the students of the city who have obtained their medals.

AUNEX students from all the municipalities of the province that also participated in this project gathered there, such as Elche, Altea, Orihuela, Ibi and El Campello, as well as Benidorm.

The students María Francisca Martínez and Elisa Elvira were in charge of representing Benidorm during the students' speeches and remembered what these years of returning to the classrooms have been like and everything that AUNEX has contributed to them, not only academically but also personally.

The councillor for Social Welfare recalled that Benidorm has hosted these University Classrooms of Experience for more than twenty years at José Llorca Linares Social Center, where classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between October and May, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In this edition seven subjects have been taught, each lasting 15 hours, whose program has included theoretical and practical content on Journalism, Literature, Art, Self-regulation skills and emotional intelligence, Botany, Physiology and the European Union, has added.

Finally, Ángela Zaragozí has congratulated these 27 Benidorm residents on their graduation from AUNEX and has invited all those interested to participate in this initiative for the next academic year 2024-2025. “The only requirements to be part of AUNEX are to be over 55 years old and have an interest in learning since people don't need to have prior studies,” said the councillor, who also highlighted that this project “does not "It only allows those who participate to expand their knowledge about different subjects, but also to be active, socialize with people of the same age and share hobbies and concerns."
