The councillor for Cleaning, José Ramón González de Zárate, highlights improvements in "image, noise and odors"
Removable trash cans arrive at Tulipanes street and El Carrasco square
The "removable trash cans" system has been extended to two new parts of the city; specifically to Tulipanes street and El Carrasco square, as reported today by the councilor for Street Cleaning, José Ramón González de Zárate.
With the implementation of this pilot system, the presence of trash cans on public roads is limited to a specific time, fundamentally at night, and thus avoiding trash being deposited outside the hours established by municipal ordinance. In this way, the trash cans are placed every day around 8:00 p.m. and removed before 8:00 a.m. the next morning.
The system began to be used at La Constitución square and later it was also implemented in l’Hort de Colón, at the junction of Mercado and Antonio Ramos Carratalá streets, Pintor Lozano square and La Parra street.
The reception, said González de Zárate, "has been very positive because before there were trash cans 24 hours a day and people threw the garbage at any time of the day." With the "removable" trash cans, it has been achieved "that the municipal ordinance is complied with since the trash cans disappear in the morning and arrive again in the afternoon."
The councilor stressed that in all points "the neighbors thank us for this action and are collaborating in compliance because they fully understand that it is necessary."
González de Zárate has also praised the "exemplary" behavior of neighbors, tourist apartments and businessmen of bars and restaurants "who are taking out the garbage at night."
The implantation of the 'removable' containers and the involvement of all, the mayor continued, "has led to much improvement in image, noise and odors." In this sense, he has stressed that "now you can eat in many places without trash cans or garbage next to them, whereas before there were noises and bad smells when depositing waste."
Finally, the councillor has specified that this system "will be extended to more parts of the city to reach all neighborhoods."
