The subsidy is included in the +Cerca 2024 Plan promoted by the provincial institution

The Provincial Council grants 273,085 euros to Benidorm to help cover current expenses

24 September 2024
La Diputación concede 273.085 euros a Benidorm para contribuir a sufragar gastos corrientes

Benidorm City Council has obtained a grant of 273,085.50 euros from the Provincial Council of Alicante, a grant that is part of the +Cerca 2024 Plan with which the provincial institution contributes to covering the current expenses of the different Alicante municipalities. The Councilor for Finance, Aida García Mayor, has explained that the approval of this grant has already been published in the Official Gazette of the Province, after its approval in the plenary session held on September 11 at the Provincial Palace, "within a batch that includes municipalities with more than 1,000 inhabitants, as is our case."

García Mayor explained that “the funds corresponding to each municipality are established according to population criteria, which for Benidorm are calculated based on the 72,342 registered inhabitants”, after which she indicated that with these funds “expenses such as the maintenance of schools, libraries, sports or cultural facilities or parks and gardens, among many others, can be financed, including also the costs of personnel, cleaning, water, telecommunications, insurance premiums or energy costs”.

For this reason, the Councillor for Finance has thanked the Provincial Council that the total amount of the programme “this year can be used entirely to finance current expenditure, providing liquidity to local economies and avoiding committing them to investments in works and infrastructures that require a much larger and more complex process and, therefore, take longer in time”.
