In the monitoring committee of the agreement with Iberdrola, the electricity company is involved in municipal technical projects

In the follow-up meeting of the agreement signed between Benidorm City Council and Iberdrola focused on collaboration in Benidorm Smart City project and the set of improvements in the city, the Councilor for Public Space and Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, highlighted that in the same session he became aware of “the set of European grants on specific programs for EDUSI, urban lighting and photovoltaic systems to be implemented in public buildings, committing to from Iberdrola to collaborate with them on technical projects ”. These grants, the councilor pointed out, will be key "in improving specifications and technical projects themselves."

De Zárate stressed that “since the agreement was signed a year ago, Benidorm has achieved two fundamental things: European funds to achieve the goal of 2030 and that if everything is executed before 2023 as stipulated, we will be more than in position preferential to that goal ”.

De Zárate reviewed that another achievement reflected in the agreement is the Electric Mobility Plan, a city plan "in which Iberdrola will also be involved so that we have fast electric chargers in all city neighborhoods." The councilor indicated that we currently have 12 recharging points, two of which are fast, "being at a better level than nearby provincial capitals."

Finally, he pointed out that "Benidorm is a benchmark in the taxi regulations and the option for ecological vehicles", although he acknowledged that "in 9-seater vehicles there is still no offer in the market", but there is in the other options.

De Zárate concluded that "we are on the right track with Iberdrola, in good harmony and there will be continuous work with permanent technical support",
