Mobility projects a new park-and-ride parking space with capacity for 800 vehicles and increases these parking spaces to more than 5,750
The Department of Mobility has projected a new free parking lot with a capacity for around 800 vehicles and that will raise more than 5,750 parking spaces throughout Benidorm. The councilor of the area, José Ramón González de Zárate, has informed that “this new car park is going to be executed on a municipal plot of 17,500 square meters next to the roundabout for access to Salt de l'Aigua school complex” and will have capacity “ for about 800 vehicles. ”
De Zárate has indicated that with this new parking lot there will be five located at the entrance to Benidorm by Levante, and a total of 31 enabled "throughout the city, especially in access to it." According to the data transferred by the councillor, Benidorm currently has about thirty parking lots and about 5,000 parking spaces, to which the ones announced today will be added in a few months.
The person in charge of Mobility has advanced that the prediction is that the new car park is available for “the month of October or November”, once the materials for the remodeling of Mediterráneo Avenue are no longer collected in this plot. At the moment, “we are working on the design of the parking lot –included the street lighting- and on the internal configuration of how the whole traffic issue will be going in that area once the new access to the Salt de l'Aigua school complex is operational that is being run now ”.
At this point, he recalled that, through the project of 'Universal Accessibility and Sustainability', a bridge is being built that will prolong Barca del Bou street, saving Derramador ravine, generating an 'extra' access to Salt de l'Aigua connected to Comunidad Europea avenue. In addition, he has advanced that conversations are already being held “with public transport” to improve the connection of this new parking lot with the urban center.
De Zárate has reported that “2,000 leaflets with all the information about these park-and-ride parking spaces, such as the location, number of places and connections” have been distributed among hotels and other tourist accommodation companies. Likewise, this information will be transferred in digital format so that it can be included in their web pages and transfer it to their clients even before people travel to Benidorm.
