Environmental workshops bring together numerous children and families in Foietes Park
Numerous children and families participated this Saturday in the second of the environmental workshops organised by the Parks and Gardens Department, together with the concessionary company Actúa, to highlight the value of the green heritage and biodiversity of the flora and fauna that inhabit Benidorm's parks. The activity took place throughout the morning and allowed participants, especially the youngest ones, to learn from several environmental educators about topics such as the role of birds and insects in the biological control of pests, as well as the importance of caring for the environment.
The Councillor for Parks and Gardens, José Ramón González de Zárate, welcomed all the attendees and thanked them for their participation in this activity, in which the children were able to build wooden nest boxes for small birds and insect hotels, some of which have been installed in this green space.
The councillor explained that the aim of this activity was "to encourage the presence of beneficial wildlife in the parks and, at the same time, raise public awareness of its importance for ecological balance."
Finally, González de Zárate recalled that the first environmental activity took place in mid-April, with a bike ride in which participants visited all of Benidorm's parks. He added that the next activities are being finalised and will be announced shortly.
