Concert by the UMB Symphonic Band for the 286th anniversary of the Discovery of the Virgin
As part of the 31st edition of the Música als Pobles campaign and its centenary celebrations, Benidorm Unión Musical Symphonic Band gave a concert this morning in the Plaza Mayor, composed entirely of pasodobles.
Under the baton of its principal conductor, Rafael Gómez Parra, the recital began with ‘Suspiros de España’ (Sighs of Spain) by Antonio Álvarez Alonso and continued with ‘AnClaMaToJa’ by Antonio Barber; Jesús Bordera by Saül Gómez; ‘Periquillo Rebanás’ by Santiago Sosales; ‘Santa Eulària des Riu’ by Frank J. Cogollos; ‘Pepet’ by Pedro Salinas; and ‘Diego Pérez’.
The event was attended by the mayor, Toni Pérez, the councillors for Culture and Festivals, Jaime Jesús Pérez and Mariló Cebreros, and other members of the city council. Among the audience were the queens of the Patron Saint Festivities, Laura Ivars and Carmen Guillen, as well as the presidents of the Comissió and the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge, Ramón Cano and Diego Carrasco.
During the concert, the Unión Musical presented the queens and the presidents of the Comissió and the peñas with bouquets and commemorative pins, respectively.
The event concluded, as an encore, with a performance of the anthem of the Valencian Community.
