The City Council will ask the Ministry to hand over the Benidorm section of CV-70

20 April 2017
El Ayuntamiento pedirá a Conselleria que le ceda el tramo de Benidorm de la CV-70

The technicians assure that the direct management of these 1.8 kilometers has numerous advantages

The maintenance expense would be 14,161.38 per year and the investment in rehabilitation of just over half a million per 12 exercises

Benidorm City Council will ask the Ministry of Housing, Public Works to assign the ownership and management of the section of the CV-70 road that passes through Benidorm, 1.8 kilometers. The proposal of the mayor, Toni Pérez, has been ruled by the Urban Planning Information Commission and should be approved in full next Monday.

Perez said that "this proposal was in our head since we acceded to the local government and is now produced after analyzing the municipal technical reports," which certify "the convenience, suitability and relevance of this section to be considered urban", and That this municipal management "will have advantages from the urban, functional, environmental and infrastructure integration point of view".

The mayor recalled that at present this highway belongs to the Generalitat Valenciana for purposes of ownership and maintenance, although for a long time "the City has run the costs of energy supply, conservation of public lighting and gardening, both the road and From the roundabout adjacent to Beniardá avenue ".

If this section were to be municipal ownership, the City Council could increase the stops and frequencies of transit of public transport, create safer pedestrian routes, reduce the speed of the road, create adjoining recreational areas, and enable the implementation and passage of Infrastructure such as natural gas, broadband or the improvement of other services such as sewerage and potable water.

The mayor stressed that this section of the CV-70 "already has characteristics of urban road, since it runs between consolidated residential areas of villas and between the floor of the future industrial estate and the Special Plan Director of Uses and Infrastructures (PEDUI) of Terra Mitica ". In addition, he added, "there are commercial areas already developed, and in most of the plots that run parallel to this road while passing through our municipal term is contemplated tertiary use." Thus, "the only thing missing is that the legal situation of this section is in line with its reality."

The Engineering area has estimated at 14,161.38 euros "the annual maintenance cost of the 1.8 kilometers" which would include the cleaning of scuppers and ditches, repair of vertical signaling, reinforcement of the horizontal, bacheo, arrangement Of flooring. On the other hand, the investment to be made by the City Council "every 12 years" for the paving, milling of the firm and replacement of signage is estimated at 551,034.20 euros. "We believe that the advantages that will behave assuming the management and protection of this section of the CV-70 in the medium and long term more than compensates for the disbursement of maintenance," concluded the mayor.
