The Benimanchegos from Benidorm and the region celebrate Castile-La Mancha Day in the city

The Benidorm Town Hall Assembly Hall hosted the event, organised by the Casa de Castilla La Mancha of Benidorm and the Region, yesterday afternoon to celebrate this important day in this autonomous community. The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, along with other local government members, joined the residents of La Mancha in celebrating this heartfelt event. Albacete journalist Jorge García Pérez, one of the voices of Radio Benidorm, served as the town crier and presenter.
The evening began with Yolanda Marcos Martí, the Vendimia Queen, being welcomed by the President of the Casa de Castilla La Mancha, Loren Torres Escudero, along with her bridesmaids. Rocío Ibáñez Torre and Juan José Oviedo Oñate were then named Honorary Manchega and Quijote of 2025, followed by the founder's speech.
In a heartfelt speech, in which he spoke of the small stories that make up History, Jorge García also recalled his childhood in La Mancha and his current connection with Benidorm, highlighting the close personal, economic, and emotional ties between the two territories.
Mayor Toni Pérez was in charge of closing the event. He did so by congratulating all the people of La Mancha, whom he referred to with the term "Benimanchegos," coined by Pedro Zaragoza as a sign of the mutual esteem between Benidorm and La Mancha, and of all the people of La Mancha who chose the city to make it their home and that of their families.
Finally, the folklore group La Bella Munera offered a performance of La Mancha music and dance, bringing the celebration to a close.
