Benidorm undertakes maintenance and conservation work on the pedestrian area in El Calvari neighborhood
The Department of Urban Scene of Benidorm City Council has begun a series of conservation and maintenance works on most of the streets in El Calvari neighbourhood, specifically the pedestrianised ones, to improve pedestrian traffic on these cobblestone streets.
The councillor for the department, Francis Muñoz, explained that these minor works consist of “repointing the cobblestones and repairing small imperfections caused by the constant flow of people.” He said that the aim is “to maintain the pedestrian environment of the neighbourhood, which requires detailed interventions in specific areas.”
Muñoz explained that these works “will only take a few days” and emphasised that “although they do not represent a significant cost or pose a great challenge, they do prevent pedestrians from tripping and falling in the street, and they also noticeably improve the city's urban landscape.”
The councillor also announced that once these works are completed, street furniture such as bollards, litter bins, and benches will be replaced. "Likewise, the grouting work will be extended to some defective storm drains to prevent tripping hazards," he concluded.
