Benidorm taxis incorporate a pioneering 'app' to request the service with the mobile phone

Benidorm taxis are going to incorporate a pioneering technological application that will allow users to request a service through their mobile phone and will provide information, such as the number of available vehicles closest to their location; the price of the trip you are going to make; the time it will take to get from one point to another; or the 'extras' that each vehicle can offer, such as the possibility of charging your mobile phone on the journey, bringing pets or listening to music. The mayor of Mobility, Francis Muñoz, presented this novelty today together with the president of the Radio Taxi Benidorm association, Alfredo Fernández; the application creator, Alain Mateo; and the Public Service technician.

The councillor has indicated that the taxi service is “an essential public transport in our city” and this tool will allow “users and taxi drivers more comfort, more security and a modern service.” Likewise, he has indicated that with the 232 taxi licenses that the City Council has granted in the city, there will be a total of 224 vehicles that are going to begin using this system these days, which will complement the telephone service that Radio Taxi has been providing for years to “adapt to a younger audience that preferentially uses this type of technology.”

The 'app' is called TaxiCoin and, after a pilot test carried out with a small group of taxis in Madrid over six months, "Benidorm is going to be the first city in which it is going to be fully implemented," said its responsible. It can be downloaded through Android and IOS and both download and use are completely free.

“The price of taxis is regulated by the City Council,” Mateo recalled to indicate that requesting a taxi through this application will not imply any change in rates.

In addition, users will be able to use TaxiCoin in both Spanish and English, languages and soon in French and German to “provide service not only to residents but also to the national and international tourists who visit Benidorm”, added Francis Muñoz.
