The green areas are located in commercial streets and will be free for residents and only those who are not registered have to pay

Benidorm starts on Sunday night the painting of the new green parking areas

29 April 2022
Benidorm inicia el domingo por la noche el pintado de las nuevas zonas verdes de aparcamiento

This coming Sunday night  Benidorm City Council will begin the painting and signage work for the new green parking areas. These are roads in which parking will be free for residents of Benidorm and payment for those who are not.

The delimitation of these areas corresponds to "commercial streets and with a large presence of bars and restaurants", as explained by the Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate.
Thus, from Sunday streets such as Alcalá, the lower part of Mercasa, Santander, Xixo or Vicente Llorca Alós will be painted green. "Residents will continue to park there for free, vehicles that carry the corresponding distinctive sticker," said the councillor who, however, added that "in the future" we will have a mobile application, parking meters and payment systems so that non-residents can park paying”.

The purpose of starting the signage of these streets now is due, González de Zárate specified, to the fact that "as they are shopping areas and restaurants, we want to have everything prepared for the summer and that people know that this area is the same as that of resident, but in which they can also park paying for those who are not.
This new delimitation and painting of the regulated parking areas were agreed upon with the business associations of the city, the Neighborhood Council and the neighbourhood associations with the new colours that will define them.

José Ramón González de Zárate has recalled in this sense that "we met with all the business associations of the city and with the neighbourhood associations and an agreement has been reached with all of them". In this way, the green area will be located in the lower part of Mercasa, along some streets of El Campo, Levante and Rincón de Loix. In addition, roads such as Avenida Vicente Llorca Alós or Xixo will be a green parking area during the winter months, while in summer it will be an ORA blue area.

The green zone seats (free for residents and paid for other vehicles) will account for a total of approximately 1,586, although new roads will also be incorporated, while the zone that will be green in winter and blue in summer will occupy some 310 seats.

On the other hand, the exclusive parking area for residents, coloured orange, is mostly concentrated in the Foietes-Colonia Madrid and Els Tolls areas, although there are also some streets in Rincón de Loix, El Campo and La Cala.
