The mayor offers the prize "to all those people of Benidorm who in the fifties believed in tourism"
Benidorm receives the ICTE Q Award after becoming the first certified DTI in the world
Benidorm received the Q Award last year awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE). An award that comes just a month after the city has become the world's first Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) certified. The mayor, Toni Pérez, was in charge of collecting this distinction granted to the City Council during the 'Night Q' organized by the ICTE in the Crystal Gallery of Palacio de Cibeles. Pérez received the award from the Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and the President of ICTE, Miguel Mirones.
With this Prize Q 2019 the jury has recognized the "bet" of Benidorm City Council "for maintaining the tourism leadership from the application of policies and management models with quality as the central axis". In addition, he highlighted the fact that Benidorm has "managed to be the first destination to achieve certification as an intelligent destination, which, added to its three certified beaches, its tourist office and its establishments with the Q Mark, have converted this city in a world reference of tourist quality ".
After collecting the award, the mayor expressed his gratitude to all agencies and institutions that have promoted this recognition to tourism excellence and "to all those who have helped us and accompanied us in transit to become the first Smart Tourist Destination in the world, a certificate that we longed for and for which we have fought hard ".
Toni Pérez made reference to Segittur, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, UNE, AENOR and ICTE and offered the prize "to all those people who in Benidorm since the 50s in the last century, believed in tourism, They believed in the social and economic sustainability of an industry that makes us all better every day, and especially those who in recent times have relied on a challenge and put all their enthusiasm, and worked a lot from the example that goes hand in hand public administration and the private sector, and they bet on having a promotion foundation like Visit Benidorm and they introduced us to this world of innovation, repositioning our destiny and becoming also leaders in intelligence, sustainability and technology, to put it at the service of people, to improve ourselves in governance and be able to say that Benidorm is here to offer the world happiness. "
In addition to Benidorm City Council, ICTE has also recognized in this edition of Q Awards to the Post Office and the Government of Valle del Cauca in Colombia.
