Benidorm receives half a million euros from the Provincial Council to increase Social Welfare resources

This nominative grant of 502,374 euros is divided into two concepts. On the one hand, the Provincial Council of Alicante grants 295,514 euros to cover expenses related to social benefits for extraordinary situations, made between October 2021 and September 2022 to minimize the consequences of the pandemic. This section includes home help for elderly people with disabilities or a situation of dependency; aid to guarantee the coverage of basic needs of families; and the reinforcement of personnel from the Department.

The mayor of Social Welfare, Ángela Llorca, explained that "both subsidies come to reinforce care and aid programs in which the City Council works throughout the year or lines of action launched in recent months to deal with unforeseen situations such as those caused by the war in Ukraine.
Ella Llorca recalled that “in the 2022 budget there is an item of 610,000 euros to deal with social emergency aid, whether for food needs, housing or energy costs, for example; an amount that is now going to be increased with the funds contributed by the Provincial Council of Alicante”.
Likewise, it has specified that “apart from this important item of social care, since the outbreak of the war, the Department has allocated financial resources to urgent expenses to care for refugees from Ukraine and also to assist people who needed it at home. due to Covid-19”.
