Benidorm recalls the main recommendations for the arrival of a heat wave

27 June 2025
ola de calor

Benidorm City Council reminded the public of the main recommendations to follow in light of the predicted heat wave that will hit our country in the coming hours.

Thus, as is usual in these cases, people are advised to avoid direct sun exposure between noon and 5 p.m., use adequate sunscreen, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and caffeine, and eat salads, fruit, and vegetables. Similarly, it is recommended not to engage in any type of exercise or sports outdoors during the hottest hours of the day, keep homes cool and ventilated, and not leave anyone inside a car, not even pets. Increased protection for the elderly, children, and vulnerable people is also recommended. Finally, it is also recommended to seek and stay in cool, shaded areas.

In addition to these recommendations, Benidorm City Council reminds its residents and visitors that the city has many free climate shelters, such as the large parks of El Moralet, Sequia Mare, and l'Aigüera, among others, and the numerous existing shaded areas and those created thanks to the more than 30,000 trees that have been planted.

It's also worth remembering that the municipality has more than six kilometres of coastline where swimming is free, thus relieving the heat caused by the high temperatures. The same applies to the numerous private swimming pools in the communities, where swimming also alleviates the feeling of heat.
