The agreement reached with the owners and approved by the plenary required the City Council to pay 1.9 million before March 15

Benidorm pays the penultimate expropriation linked to Foietes Park before the agreed deadline

Benidorm paga la penúltima expropiación ligada al Parque de Foietes antes del plazo acordado

Benidorm City Council has paid today, six days before the deadline, the penultimate expropriation of land linked to Foietes Park. The councilor for Finance and Urban Development, Lourdes Caselles, has indicated that "after a period of negotiations, we reached an agreement with the owners of farm number 3 to liquidate the expropriation in 1.9 million euros, about 850,000 euros less than that they initially claimed. " That agreement, approved by a majority in the past full ordinary of February, established that the payment of that amount had to be made "before March 15, 2018, a commitment that we have met and fulfilled."

Caselles recalled that "according to the initial assessment of liquidation made by the technicians, the City had to pay 2.7 million euros; an amount that included the value of the land plus the corresponding interest since the expropriation process began in 1997, as well as the amounts paid on account and the differences deriving from the expropriation of two other properties of the same owners ".

From the Economic area "talks were held to reach a mutual agreement with the owners, which has allowed to reduce that figure to 1.9 million euros."

The mayor explained that this amount, as reflected in the proposal approved in the plenary session, "has been deducted, after a corresponding budget amendment, from the park and garden investment item included in the 2017 budget."
