Benidorm Musical Union offers a concert in tribute to Joan García Iborra on Saturday
The symphonic band of Unión Musical de Benidorm is going to celebrate this Saturday its traditional concert of musicians and members, an event in which they will also pay tribute to Joan García Iborra, who was the main director of this entity between 2007 and 2011 and who died last May. The Councilor for Culture of the Benidorm City Council, Jaime Jesús Pérez, has announced that the recital is scheduled at 7 p.m. at the Cultural Center and has recalled that, like the vast majority of cultural activities organized by the City Council, entry will be free and free, limited to the 450 seats in the auditorium capacity.
The concert, under the baton of the current director of the UMB, Rafa Gómez Parra, will begin with the performance of the piece 'Andrés Contrabandista' composed by Óscar Navarro. The program also includes the works 'Cançons de Mare', by Rafael Talens; ‘First Suite in Eb for Military Band’, by Gustav Holst; 'Imperator Charlemagne', by Pere Sanz; and 'Enrique López', by Antón Alcalde.
Jaime Jesús Pérez has pointed out that this concert is part of the cultural programming for July and August of the Department of Culture and has highlighted that "if it traditionally represents one of the most emotional concerts of the year for this entity, as it is dedicated to the members and musicians of the Musical Union, this year it will be even more so because we will remember the figure of a great musician and a great director such as Joan García Iborra", inviting the members and the general public to enjoy this event.
