In light of the evolving emergency, Cecopal is expanding preventive measures and urging the public to take extra precautions
Benidorm moves today's Euroclub event to Plaza SSMM Reyes de España and progressively closes parks due to the orange wind alert
Due to the orange alert for strong winds issued by the Valencian Regional Government's Emergency Coordination Centre, Benidorm City Council has decided to move the Euroclub concerts and activities scheduled for this Friday at Julio Iglesias Auditorium in l’Aigüera Park to Plaza SSMM Reyes de España. In addition, the end time for these activities has been brought forward to 11:30 p.m., and the progressive closure of the city's parks has been agreed upon, beginning with Elche Park. In the case of l’Aigüera Park, the closure will be partial to maintain pedestrian access between l’Aigüera Avenue and Primavera Street.
These decisions were made at the request of the Municipal Operations Coordination Centre (CECOPAL), convened at 5:00 p.m. by Mayor Toni Pérez, and follow the suspension of outdoor sports activities at municipal facilities agreed upon late this morning. At this same Cecopal meeting, the closure of the municipal ecopark, located in Foia del Ca, was announced.
In response to the Es Alert warning issued around 6:00 PM this Friday, which indicates that strong winds could intensify on Saturday, further additional measures may be adopted.
As is customary when a weather alert is issued, the City Council has activated the alert and information system for the public through the network of municipal screens installed in public areas, including the tech landmark in Plaza de la Hispanidad and the tech stop on Avenida del Mediterráneo.
The public is also asked to avoid unnecessary travel, keep awnings retracted, remove flowerpots and other unsecured items from balconies or ledges, exercise extreme caution in outdoor activities and spaces, and stay tuned for updates and official announcements through the information channels and social media of the Benidorm City Council and the Local Police.
On the other hand, while the yellow alert for coastal phenomena remains in effect, water sports and any other activity at sea are prohibited, and it is recommended to avoid exposure to high-risk coastal areas such as promenades, breakwaters, rocky areas, or cliffs, as well as on beaches.
