Santa Claus opens his House at Hort de Colón and Plaza de SS. MM. los Reyes de España is transformed once again into Plaza de la Navidad (Christmas Square)
Benidorm lights up the magic of Christmas
At 6:00 p.m., the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, the councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, and other members of the city council visited Santa's House, accompanied by the queens of the Patron Saint Festivities, Paula Pascual and Aitana Pérez, their ladies-in-waiting, the president of the Festival Committee, Ramón Cano, and the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate. There, they were greeted by the legendary figure, who greeted the many children who came to say hello, take pictures with him, and remind him how good they had been this year.
The visit was brief, as the authorities and festival representatives had to lead the traditional countdown to the Christmas lights being switched on in Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España. Thousands of people, mostly families with children, awaited the most anticipated moment of the afternoon. When the mayor, the councilwoman, and the queens pressed the button, the square was filled with light, colour, and music amidst fireworks and a shower of confetti, marking the official start of BeniNadal 2025-2026.
After the fireworks display, Gisela, with her ‘Show Kids,’ recreated some of the most memorable scenes from Disney films alongside her cast of actors and dancers. The musical themes from the animated movies, which Gisela herself sang at their premiere, once again filled Benidorm, and with them, joy and excitement shone brightly once more among the children who, along with their parents, sang and danced along.
From that moment on, one of the city's busiest areas was completely transformed thanks to the large ice rink, children's attractions, food and gift stalls, and a special program designed for children and their families that will run throughout the Christmas season.
The complete BeniNadal program can be found on the citizen portal.
