Benidorm inaugurates a new Purple Point in the Municipal Library

Benidorm City Council has launched today a new 'Purple Point' in the Municipal Library, an act that is part of the weekly program on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated next November 25.

The Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, was present at the inauguration of this new point, accompanied by the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, and several members of the municipal corporation.

Zaragozí stressed during the inauguration that "the Purple Points are spaces to raise awareness among the population, as well as to attend, inform and help the victims of any type of sexist aggression immediately".

The aim of these Points is to inform people through brochures or any other available material, detect situations of gender violence, provide care and advice to women who have suffered or witnessed a situation of gender violence, and refer available resources for comprehensive care.

The Councilor for Equality also stated that these Violet Points "make visible Benidorm's rejection of sexist violence in any space in the municipality."

For her part, Ana Pellicer has indicated that it is a transversal initiative of her department "towards the departments that formulate their proposals to give visibility to issues of interest". Thus, she recalled that "we also have a Pink Ribbon point that was visited on the occasion of International Breast Cancer Day". “What we intend” she continued “is to give visibility to this Point so that whoever wants to obtain information can do so in a near, quiet, discreet, and accessible place”.
