After the Board of Spokespersons, the government opens a period of negotiation with the Socialist party to study their proposals to the text

Benidorm delivers to the Corporation groups the draft budget, which amounts to 141.6 million

Benidorm entrega a los grupos de la Corporación el borrador del presupuesto, que asciende a 141,6 millones

The Economic Department of Benidorm City Council has completed the drafting of the 2024 municipal budget draft, which amounts to 141.6 million euros and which today in a Meeting of Spokespersons convened by the mayor, Toni Pérez, has been delivered to the opposition groups, since "the intention is that the document can be voted on in full as soon as possible."

The mayor has stressed that "as we promised when the Economic department completed the draft budget it was transferred to the Corporation groups." "At this time the technicians are finalizing the latest reports."

Toni Pérez explained that "a tight budget has been prepared, in which once again social spending is prioritized without neglecting investments, especially those that are affected by subsidies from European funds, or those that we already have underway and "which are important for economic development such as the construction of the Vial Discotecas and the roundabout that will give access to the industrial estate, two essential infrastructures so that the commercial area can be developed."

Specifically, the real investments included in the budget amount to 23,024,496.07 euros, of which 13,528,436.25 euros are covered with general resources of the City Council.

Within the investment section, Toni Pérez has highlighted “the resources that are allocated to the Participatory Budget, to carry out the projects proposed and approved in the assembly by the citizens.” “In 2024, the Participatory Budget exceeds its historical ceiling with 615,639.82 euros, the highest amount since its launch in 2016 and which represents 5% of the investments made with general resources of the City Council,” he specified.

The mayor revealed that "once the draft budget has been delivered, we reach out to opposition groups to study proposals that can complement the document." Thus, the government team has already proposed to the socialist group "to open a negotiation period to explore the possibility of incorporating different proposals into the budget."

In this sense, Toni Pérez recalled that "in 2022, this dynamic was already proposed and as a result of the dialogue, a budget agreement was reached with the PSOE, which gave its support to the accounts."
