Benidorm y la Cámara de Comercio realizan un curso para formar a jóvenes en Asistencia en hoteles

The Youth Department of Benidorm City Council, and Alicante Chamber of Commerce, is carrying out a 180-hour Hotel Assistant course for young people between 16 and 29 years old whose only requirement is to be registered and active in Youth Guarantee.

The course is free and runs from April to June of this year and is divided into five modules that are taught from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first module took place from April 25 to May 13 at José Llorca Linares Social Center while the rest of the modules, from May 14 to June 14, are being held at Bali Hotel.

The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, visited the course this morning, accompanied by the president of the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Baño. The councillor has highlighted the “importance” of training and highlighted the “excellent figures” of employability of these courses. In that sense, she reminded those attending the course that “the City Council is always at your disposal” and has told them about some of the municipal initiatives to promote employment, as well as aid to new entrepreneurs. Gómez has encouraged the participating students to whom she has conveyed “the high employability of this course.”

For his part, Carlos Baño has emphasized the “commitment of the hospitality industry to a labour market with a high level of training” and told the students that “you are a fundamental part of the sector.” He has also urged them to “take advantage of the opportunity, which is very important, so as not to stop training.” “This is the beginning of a ladder with many rungs,” he said.

The subjects the youngsters study are Social Skills and Employability (mandatory, 60 hours), Customer Service, Reception Assistant, Cleaners and Hospitality Assistant.

The diploma awarded in the course entitles you to work as a professional in the different services offered by a hotel establishment. It also includes the licence of Food Handlers and Retail Trade sector.

There are a dozen students who are taking part in this course. Companies that hire one of these young people with a six-month full-time contract can request a hiring aid of 5,000 euros from the Chamber of Commerce.
