The girl Aitana Pérez Gutiérrez embodies the ‘angelet’ before hundreds of people early in the morning

Benidorm celebrated one of the most anticipated moments of its Holy Week this Easter Sunday with the traditional "Ambaixà" and the Procession of El Encuentro between the Virgin Mary and the Risen Jesus, events that drew hundreds of people to the city centre from the early hours of the morning.

Alameda Street once again became the main stage for this celebration, where numerous residents and visitors gathered to witness the moving moment when the two images meet and to hear the verses that announce to the Virgin the resurrection of her Son, a tradition deeply rooted in the town.

This year, the role of the "little angel" was played by young Aitana Pérez Gutiérrez, who recited the Easter verses before an emotional audience. After the recitation, aleluyas (allegory-shaped pastries) were distributed among those present, in an atmosphere marked by joy and community participation. The event was attended by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, along with a large part of the municipal council. Also present were the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate; representatives from the parish of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna; and members of various brotherhoods and confraternities of Benidorm's Holy Week.

Following El Encuentro, the images of the Virgin Mary and the Risen Christ were taken to the parish church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna, where the first Mass of Easter Sunday was celebrated, continuing the religious services scheduled throughout the day in the different parishes of Benidorm.

With this celebration, the city concludes a Holy Week marked by high participation and large crowds in the streets and squares, further solidifying the deep roots of these traditions and the enthusiasm they inspire among residents and a growing number of visitors.
