The association has received almost 35,000 drawings throughout the 21-year history of the contest

The XXI School Drawing and Painting Contest of La Barqueta opens the deadline to present the works of primary school students

El XXI Certamen Escolar de Dibujo y Pintura de La Barqueta abre el plazo para presentar las obras de los alumnos de primaria

The ACR La Barqueta School Drawing and Painting Contest, which was presented this morning, is celebrating its twenty-first edition this year and already has almost 35,000 works received in all this time.

The presentation of this edition was carried out by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, by the president of the ACR La Barqueta, Francisco Llorens, and by the member of the board of directors, Jaime Lloret. The councillor highlighted "the excitement that this event gives us, which is one of the most impactful and repercussions in the entire Valencian Community."

Aimed at primary school students, each student may submit a maximum of one work and each centre may choose up to ten works per cycle for the competition. The deadline to make the drawings has already been opened and then another will be opened, from February 19 to 23, for the centres to send the works to La Barqueta.

The selected works will be exhibited from March 1 to 15 and on the 15th of that month at 6 p.m. the awards ceremony will take place in the City Hall Assembly Hall. “We encourage schoolchildren to participate in the contest, whose winners will be published in the Festes Majors Patronals program,” said Jaime Jesús Pérez, who also specified that the three centres with the greatest participation in the contest will receive prizes.

The Councilor for Culture and the members of La Barqueta also wanted to send a “heartfelt memory” to all those who have collaborated with the entity over the years, and especially to the family of José Luis Sotorres, a recently deceased local journalist and photographer. , “which for many years has helped a lot to La Barqueta and the city's festivals.”

This year's contest will hardly present any changes, according to Jaime Lloret, because the jury will be the same. The only novelty will be, in principle, “that there will be more children awarded because we have obtained two new collaborators and a third with whom we are in talks.”

Lloret has also stressed that what is sought with this contest is that "the winning drawing represents our Major Festivals and the Find and for that the children have a thousand different perspectives."

Finally, Francisco Llorens, president of the ACR La Barqueta, has expressed his hope that “the contest continues for many years and that the "Hallazgo" continues to be our hallmark as it has always been.”
