Benidorm has celebrated this weekend Moors and Christians Festivities. Festivities that started last Thursday with 'Invasion Mora de la Villa ’and last night they lived their central act, the‘ Entrance ’. In the most central streets of Benidorm and as every year, many spectators, among which was the mayor, Toni Pérez, followed the parade of the Moors and Christian troops, which opened the Colla de Xirimiters de La Marina.

The first to make their appearance were the Moorish part: Muslim Tagarinos, Benidarhims and Nasrids. Next, preceded by several squads of men and women, and accompanied by a ballet, came the Queen of the Moors, Rocío García Flores, from the Tuareg part. After the passage of the Cavallers de la Baronia, the ‘Entrance’ closed the top representatives from La Cruz band, the Christian Monarchs, Rafa Urbano and Darina Bonete, of the from Cruzados.

The last day of the festivities began this Sunday with the staging of the 'Peace Parliament', a unique event within the celebrations of Moors and Christians in Spain and based on the text written by the historian and researcher Pere Mª Orts and Bosch. After the ‘Peace Parliament’ the traditional flower offering has been celebrated, in which, among others, the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; members of the municipal Corporation; and the Queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor, accompanied by their Courts of Honor.

The Moors and Christians Festivities end this afternoon with the ‘retreta’, parade of floats that will depart from the top of Tomás Ortuño Street.
