VOX Benidorm rejects the acceptance of illegal immigrants or unaccompanied minors in the city

VOX spokesperson and councillor in Benidorm, José Miguel San Martín, has presented a request at the next plenary session, requesting that if the Generalitat Valenciana were to send a request to the City Council to accommodate illegal immigrants or unaccompanied foreign minors, the City Council should expressly reject the request.
“Benidorm cannot assume the social, economic, or security costs that hosting illegal immigrants or unaccompanied minors would entail,” stated San Martín.
The councillor recalled that, according to press reports, the Generalitat is sending letters to municipalities in the province to transfer part of the migration problem from the Canary Islands to the Valencian Community.
“Neither the Spanish Government nor the Generalitat should transfer this problem to our province, much less to Benidorm. The obligation of our institutions is to guarantee the safety and well-being of our residents,” stated the VOX spokesperson.
In this regard, San Martín emphasised that the open border policies of the PP and PSOE have only had a pull effect, favouring the mafias that traffic in human beings.
“At VOX, we defend that unaccompanied foreign minors should be repatriated to their countries of origin as soon as possible. Our public resources must be allocated to those who legally belong to them, not to supporting illegal immigration that jeopardises social cohesion and security,” San Martín concluded.
