The Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals of 2019 has already a standard-bearer, Vicente Berenguer Devesa, who has taken over today from José Ramón Francés Almiñana. The name of the new standard bearer has been announced before the celebration of the Major Mass in honor of the patroness saint of Benidorm, the Mare de Déu del Sofratge, which was celebrated this afternoon at the church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna, of the commemorative events of the 279th anniversary of the arrival of the Virgin to the city.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, attended; the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; members of the corporation; the Queens of the Festes Majos Patronals, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor; the president of the Comissió, Roberto Carretero; his counterpart of l'Associació de Penyes, Coly Pérez; and the members of 2019 Commission.

Born in Benidorm and grown up in the neighborhood of El Calvari, Vicente Berenguer Devesa was a co-founder member of El Calvari Festival, carrier of Sant Jaume and member of the Comisó de Festes in 1969 and 1981. In addition, his family is very integrated into the Clubs collective , and his two daughters and granddaughters have been ladies; older lady; and queens of the Festes Majors Patronals in 1996.

After the Major Mass, the 2019 honorary memebers was also presented: Clara Llorca Orts, Magdalena Llorca Lloret, Marinet Ribes Llorens, José Filippini Pérez, Paquita Ribes Llorens, Benilde Company Margarit, Miguel Climent Monzó, Pepita Baldó Escuder, María Fernández Urbina, Pepe Navarro Mas, Pedro Vila Esteban, María Pallarés Hernando and Pepa Orozco Cortés.

The commemorative events of the 279th anniversary of the arrival of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge continue this afternoon with the traditional pilgrimage and offering to the patroness saint, who will leave at 6:00 p.m. from Paseo de Colón
