The Three Wise Men parade in Benidorm in the most magical night

05 January 2017
Los Reyes Magos desfilan por Benidorm en la noche más mágica

Their Majesties have travelled around the city until reaching  Plaza de la Navidad where the mayor, Toni Pérez welcomed them

The Three wise Men are already in Benidorm. Their Majesties have arrived at 17.30 hours to Parque de Elche where they have been received by the councilor of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, and the 700 people who have participated, one hour later, in the parade. After 6 in the afternoon, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar passed by Almendros Avenue and the streets Mars, Venus, Ruzafa and Herrerías to finish at the gates of the City Hall. At Plaza de la Navidad the mayor, Toni Pérez, was waiting for them, accompanied by many of the members of the municipal corporation, representatives of the social and festive entities of the locality and the queens of Festes Majors Patronals 2017.

A city without borders

Subsequently, the Three Wise Men went to the living Bethlehem and delivered the baby Jesus their presents: gold, incense and myrh and then receive the greeting of the mayor who welcomed them on behalf of the city. Toni Pérez reminded them of the character of Benidorm, "open and hospitable", a city "without borders" that wants to "be happy and make others happy". That is why he asked the Three Wise Men to give us peace, love and joy tonight and that "above all, to those who need it most". Following the words of the mayor, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar distributed more than 2,000 toys among all the children present who have not wanted to miss the welcome that the population made to the Three Wise Men. The parade lasted for two and a half hours approximately. It was divided into two distinct blocks. In the first, the characters of the films and animation series more famous were the protagonists. In the second, the story of Christmas was recreated, with a prominent presence of the living Bethlehem of 'La Barqueta',the King Herod with his Roman troops and typical characters of the nativity scene: shepherds, farmers and artisans; the animals: camels, oxen, horses, sheep, goats, the spectacular hollows, etc. The three musical societies of the city took also part: Unió Musical, La Nova and l'Illa de Benidorm, Colla de Xirimiters de la Marina and the group of batucada Jambo who have put the musical note to the parade.  Along the way, the department of Fiestas distributed thousands of Christmas tales and 3,000 kilos of candy that sweetened the evening to the little ones to enjoy more, if possible, the visit of the Three Wise Men. After the parade, a pyromusical castle was fired based on the Suite of the Three Wise Men Kings by Francisco José Rovira Peretó. After the distribution of gifts, the Three Kings went to all the houses in Benidorm where, at this time, they distribute the gifts that the children will discover in the morning.
