It can be considered the ‘U16 World Cup’ in football. Teams from Japan, Mexico, Russia, England and Spain participate

SportsChain AGS CUP Tournament will be played at Guillermo Amor

29 November 2019
El Torneo SportsChain AGS CUP se jugará en el Guillermo Amor

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, have presented today to the media the international football tournament AGS Cup SportChain 2019 to be played at the Guillermo Amor Stadium. In the press conference the director of the competition, Marco García Spata, has intervened; the representative of the organizing company, Luke van Overbeek; the spokesman of the Mexican team, Daniel León; and that of the Russian Federation, Ekaterina Zolotareva.

The tournament, whose entrace is free, will also play in Alfaz de Pi and La Nucía. It will open on Monday 2 and end on December 8. In it we can see the Spanish team led by Julen Guerrero that "with his cast of athletes will delight people in Benidorm," said Toni Pérez.

The mayor has announced that Benidorm will host “high-level” meetings such as Russia - Mexico (Tuesday 3), or Japan - England (Wednesday 4), and, of course, Spain - England (Sunday 8), which "Without a doubt, it will make fans enjoy this competition."

Toni Pérez has thanked the choice of Benidorm as the venue of the tournament because "sport," he said, "is an important engine for the social economy of the city and the region, especially of our tourism industry." The mayor has highlighted the "magnificent facilities" that Marina Baixa has and "the magnificent weather" that make it the ideal venue for this type of competitions and "even more" in the off season.

The mayor has also highlighted the spur of the tournament that involves "seeing those players who, no doubt, will become great stars of their teams" in the near future and for the first time they will play in Benidorm. Opinion shared by Marco García Spata who recalled that these players "are the cradle of talent." The director of the competition has stated that the competition could be "considered as an unofficial World Cup U16", among other things "because it is a tournament that does not exist".

Luke goes Overbeek, on the other hand, he stressed that the next few days in Benidorm "we can see ahead of the future of football", Ekateriana Zolotareva has stressed "the great opportunity to concentrate and compete against top-level teams" and Daniel León has congratulated that the tournament will allow his team to “prepare the next world cup they will play in Peru”.
