Skyline Film Festival will be screened from July 1 in Benidorm
This morning Benidorm Skyline Film Festival has been presented at a telematic press conference in Benidorm. This has announced by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez and the director of the Festival, Bea Hernández. The event will be screened from July 1 to 12 and can be viewed through the online cinema platform, Filmin.
Jaime Jesús Pérez recalled that due to “the situation we are now” the festival has had to be postponed from the initial dates from March 21 to 19 to adapt it “to the online modality” thanks to Filmin, “one of the most important streaming platforms ”in the country, specialized in author cinema.
Although the screenings will start on July 1, during these days complementary activities have already been carried out, especially on social networks, such as the dubbing workshop, by the Valencian filmmaker, Francesc Llorens.
Pérez has pointed out that the Skyline is a "consolidated" festival and has valued the effort made by the City Council to "adapt to the new circumstances" caused by Covid-19. What's more, the online modality can be “the opportunity to have a greater national and even international reach through Filmin”,
For her part, Bea Hernández thanked the support of Benidorm City Council, the Valencian Institute of Culture and the collaborating companies and highlighted the presentation of "300 short films from which we have selected 25" for the official section.
Each of the films that participate in the official categories of the festival: fiction, animation and documentary, will receive a compensation for broadcasting of 200 euros, Hernández said, and the parallel sections, such as the short films directed by students, can be viewed, also from July 1 to 12, on YouTube.
13,000 euros for the best project
In this edition, Bea Hernández wanted to highlight #ShortPicht that will award a prize valued at 13,000 euros for the best project. Initiative that has received the support of different companies in the audiovisual sector of the Valencian Community. The festival has selected 10 initiatives in the development or pre-production phase that have not been shot yet. Through the Zoom platform, its promoters will defend the project before a jury made up of professionals. Regarding the script contest, Hernández has specified that seven finalists have been selected "from among more than 120 received, with a very high quality."
Benidorm Skyline Film Festival in its fourth edition will also be taken to streets of the city. During its celebration, in the espai d’art of Ponent and Carrasco, an exhibition will be held with the posters of the official sections so that citizens can also get to know the works they will project.
