The section of Marqués de Comillas that runs between Jaime I Avenue and Maravall Street will be from tomorrow, January 5, of double circulation, as proposed in the Mobility Council of August 31 and ratified in a subsequent session of this advisory body, which includes all the groups of the corporation, municipal technicians and representatives of business, social and neighborhood associations.
The councilman of Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, has indicated that this modification is part of the battery of proposals raised by the Ciudadanos por Benidorm (CBM), Ciudadanos (Cs) and Compromís-Los Verdes groups as a complement to the measures designed by the municipal technicians to reorder traffic in the downtown area. A necessary reorganization and forced by the pedestrian area of a new stretch of Tomás Ortuño Street, which has reached 16 streets downtown and has been released "without incident".
De Zárate has indicated that to make this double sense of circulation possible in Marqués de Comillas, works have been executed at the intersections with Jaime I and Maravall, which will be completed today. Tonight, the horizontal signage will be painted as well.
With the implementation of the double sense of circulation the row of parking lots on the right sidewalk of Marqués de Comillas is maintained and the one on the left side is deleted, in which there were only three free parking spaces.
The councillor stressed that both this change and the other 15 operated "have been made from the consensus and dialogue" within the Mobility Council, meeting the demands of the Local Police and neighborhood groups, with a planning that started at the end of August.
Among the changes demanded by the neighbors is the signaling of the intersection of Urano, Ondulada and Tomás Ortuño streets, or the improvement of the visibility of the pedestrian crossing of the latter road from the height of the Pentagon building, saving the elevator access booth. underground parking.
De Zárate stressed that "these changes and the works that have accompanied them benefit mobility at the city and neighborhood levels", since, among other things, "the routes are reduced" that vehicles have to make, "the itineraries of the neighbors to get to their homes "," security is increased "in all the steps of zebra and" emergency vehicles are favored "to all the streets of the Maravall area, Plaza de España and Alfredo Corral.
