This Saturday, Óscar Esplá Auditorium will host a festive music concert and the inauguration of the Moors and Christians.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Óscar Esplá Auditorium in L'Aigüera Park will host a special concert in which the title and composer of the winning work of the 24th Villa de Benidorm Festival Music Composition Competition, organised by the Department of Culture of the Benidorm City Council, will be performed and announced. The Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, announced that, on this occasion, the competition was held under the category of Christian marches, and that the winning work, presented under the motto "Txam Pum," will receive a prize of 2,000 euros and a trophy sponsored by Benidorm City Council.
The concert, organised by the Department of Culture and Fiestas, will be performed by the L'Illa de Benidorm Musical Society, conducted by Felipe Juan Lanuza. The concert will take place from 8:00 p.m., with free admission until the venue is full. The program will include performances of the following works: "Maria Rosa," "Tino Herrera," and "Any d'alferes," all by Armando Blanquer Ponsoda; "Cid" by Pedro Joaquín Francés Sanjuán; and "Afalig" by Saúl Gómez Soler, the Moorish march that won last year's competition. The program will be completed with the performance of the Christian march with the motto "Txam Pum," the winner of this year's competition.
The concert will also feature the inauguration of the Moors and Christians festival officials of 2025, whose Moorish queen is María Lourdes Corrales Zabala. The event will be hosted by Jesús Carrobles, Councillor for Events and Citizen Security of Benidorm City Council. Following the concert and the inauguration of the offices, as is customary, the participating festival members will pay homage to the Moorish queen, after which a celebration with music and a popular bar will take place in the Town Hall Square, where the castle is located.
The Moors and Christians festival is celebrated in the city from October 2 to 5.
