Today Benidorm is experiencing the third day of its Festes Majors Patronals, a day dedicated entirely to its patron saint, Sant Jaume. A holiday that has not diminished the attendance or attractiveness of the events that are celebrated, following at all times the safety protocol dictated by the health authorities.

Today, Sant Jaume's Day began with the aerial bombardment from Plaza de la Senyoría and continued with a popular 'chocolatada' in the Comissió tent. Afterward, at 10:30 the members of the Commission and the music bands picked up the Queens and their Dames to go in a parade to Casa del Fester, and from there, with the authorities, they went in a parade to the parish church. of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna where at 11.30 a mass was celebrated in honor of Santiago Apóstol, patron saint of Benidorm, officiated by the parish priest of the church of San José de L'Alfàs del Pi, Miguel Ángel Schiller.

The religious ceremony was attended by queens Angélica Morenilla and Daniela Talavera, their ladies, mayor Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Festivals, Mariló Cebreros; members of the municipal corporation; the president of the Commission, Vicente Solaz; that of the Penyes Association, Ramón Cano; Senator Agustín Almodóbar; and the regional deputies Manuel Pérez Fenoll and Mario Villar. The mass was sung by the parish choir and conducted on the organ by Rafael Doménech.

At the end of it there was an aerial bombardment and a parade that took them to Jaime I Avenue to witness the mascletá. Meanwhile, during the morning the little ones enjoyed a large playground at Plaza de SS MM Los Reyes de España.

At 2:00 p.m., the queens pressed the start button for the second of the 'mascletaes' of these Festes Majors Patronals 2023, by Pirotecnia del Mediterráneo. A powerful spectacle that consumed 99.78 kilos of gunpowder in approximately six minutes with truly thunderous final fireworks and that was followed by several hundred people at the entrance to the avenue and from the homes.

The events in honor of the patron saint of Benidorm continue this afternoon at 7:30 p.m. with the traditional procession and the subsequent lighting of the 'Estampeta' in honor of Sant Jaume in the square that bears his name. The procession will run along Calle Mayor, Alameda, Paseo de la Carretera, Santa Faz, Mal Pas, and Plaza de San Jaime. Once completed, inside the temple the parish priest Mr. Juan Antonio González will read the new mayorals to organize the Festes Majors Patronals of 2023.

At night it will be the turn of live music with the local band Locos de Atar in the Plaza de SS MM Reyes de España. At 11:30 p.m. a nocturnal mascletá will be performed in Jaime I and at midnight the Shakara Orchestra will perform in the Huerto de Colón. Half an hour later in the Town Hall square, it will be the turn of the Bombay concert.
