Rotary Club resumes the 'Isidro Cortina' award for the best grade in the region in the university entrance exams
Benidorm Rotary Club resumes this year the 'Isidro Cortina' award to the student from the Marina Baixa who obtains the best grade in the university entrance exams. An award that celebrates eleven editions, which the entity recovers after two years of pandemic and which was presented today at a press conference by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Governor of Rotary Benidorm, Alfredo Melgar; the mayor of Education, Maite Moreno; and Vicky Fernández, widow of Isidro Cortina.
Toni Pérez explained that this award "recognizes the effort and dedication of the students of the Marina Baixa in this stage" of education, and constitutes "a stimulus" and "an incentive" for the preparation of these tests that "will determine the future of many young people in the region. It is, therefore, "a commitment to regional talent" that is awarded with 3,000 euros, an amount that makes it possible to face "the beginnings of a university career with more solvency and guarantees", as the winning students of previous editions have expressed.
Melgar, for his part, has highlighted that "there are not many prizes in Spain in this category" and "none of greater economic magnitude than this one"; and he has stressed that "the goal is to reach all the young people in the region" and that "there is no one who does not opt for the award due to ignorance."
The governor of Rotary Benidorm has indicated that the 'Isidro Cortina' award is an "incentive" for students to "make an effort" in the university entrance exams, which each year exceeds 95% of the students of the Marina Baixa; and has thanked the Benidorm City Council for accompanying the entity in initiatives like this.
The complete bases of this call can be consulted from tomorrow, Tuesday, May 24, on the entity's website: www.rotarybenidorm.com. Some bases in which the deadlines and documentation to be provided by the students are established, and also how the best grade is determined: the calculation of the average Baccalaureate grade, the grade of the general phase and the two best grades of the materials passed in the specific phase.
The governor of Rotary Benidorm has advanced that "the award will be awarded in October", once the second phase of the EBAU tests has concluded, while the award ceremony will be set based on the academic agenda of the winner of this edition.
