Mari Luz Navarro highlights that Benicán areas have to be in optimal conditions so that pets and their owners can enjoy the facilities safely, peacefully and comfortably

The PSOE demands improvements in dog parks in Benidorm

El PSOE reclama mejoras en los parques caninos de Benidorm

The socialist municipal group has asked the governing team, from the PP, to undertake urgent improvements in the dog parks of Benidorm. The councillor who oversees the Parks and Gardens area, Mari Luz Navarro, has explained that it is necessary to undertake a series of works to guarantee that these municipal spaces are in optimal conditions so that pets and their owners can enjoy “the facilities with safety, tranquillity and comfort”. Navarro has highlighted that they are requesting things as basic as cleaning the Benicáns daily and that gardening, maintenance, disinfection and anti-parasitic treatments are carried out periodically. Likewise, the councillor has detailed that all the dog parks in the town should have, at the very least, a fence in good condition, litter bins, bag dispensers, benches, shaded areas, special fountains for dogs, and a double entrance gate to prevent dogs from getting out when another user enters or leaves. “Unfortunately, we cannot find all these elements in our parks. Some of them do not have double doors, there are no benches and the neighbours have taken down their chairs, or shaded areas and waste bins, and in none of them have they installed fountains”, she pointed out.

Finally, the socialist councillor has asked the government of Toni Pérez to take note of all the deficiencies detected so that, as soon as possible, they are resolved and to implement the proposals put forward by her municipal group to improve the dog parks.

Complaints without response

The PSOE has also censured the lack of response from the Popular Party Government to the complaints made by a neighbour about the state of the Benicán Leisure Park next to the bullring. Thus, Navarro has pointed out that on several occasions this neighbour informed the government that part of the perimeter fence had fallen or the problems with the access door, and has regretted that “months continue to pass and the reported defects have not been fixed”.
