The plenary approves the budget modification for the works of 'Universal Accessibility' and in El Castell and El Tossal

01 April 2019
El pleno aprueba la modificación presupuestaria para las obras de ‘Accesibilidad Universal’ y en El Castell y El Tossal

The plenary session of Benidorm, in an extraordinary session, has approved by majority, with the votes in favor of the local government and the abstention of a good part of the opposition, a budgetary modification of 2,044,226.94 euros to execute the project of 'Universal Accessibility 'and the archaeological interventions in El Castell and El Tossal in La Cala. The Councilor for Finance, Lourdes Caselles, recalled that "these three important actions" have received subsidies from "supramunicipal administrations for an amount of more than 1.6 million euros" -engaged a few dates ago to the City Council-, which must be complemented by a municipal contribution of "something more than 2 million".

Specifically, the Provincial Council of Alicante has granted a grant of 950,000 euros for the project 'Universal Accessibility', while archaeological interventions in El Castell and El Tossal have received 500,000 and 205,793.62 euros respectively within the line of aid to the protection or recovery of the Valencian cultural heritage of the ERDF Operational Program 2014-2020.

Caselles explained that the approved budget modification "does not affect the objective of budgetary stability, nor the rule and spending limit", and that the resources have been extracted from the items destined to the payment of bank debt and financial expenses that in the year of 2019 will be much lower than those of 2018, thanks to the early repayment of debt that was made last year.

For its part, the mayor, Toni Pérez, said that "the projects of these three actions" were ruled in informative commissions and the request for aid for them were "approved in full"; and he recalled that subsidies are conditional on compliance with deadlines for execution and certification of works.

Likewise, the plenary session approved by majority the occasional modification number 20 of the General Plan that gives viability to the External Advertising Ordinance and to the installation in the city of the first electroliers and gas stations, service stations for ecological electric or gas vehicles. In the ordinary plenary session last Monday, March 25, this point did not obtain the votes necessary for its approval.

In the same session the election of the 702 members called to the polling stations for the national and regional elections on April 28 has proceeded. In total, through a computer application, nine elect citizens have been elected for each of the 78 electoral tables - one president and two acting, plus two members and four acting - to add up to 702 people.

The City Council now has three days to notify the result of the draw.
