Pedro Piqueras reviews his experiences as a news director in a Club Opinion conference
The journalist from Albacete Pedro Piqueras, recently retired at 69 years of age, offered an interesting conference on Monday night where he reviewed some of the most critical moments he has experienced in his career as a director and presenter of news programs on different television networks, radio and television. The conference, organized by the Opinion Club, brought together a large audience, which covered a good part of the capacity of this cultural space to listen to Piqueras.
Among those attending was the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, as well as numerous members of the Municipal Corporation, along with the president of the Opinion Club, Lourdes Picazo; members of this entity and the public who are not part of the club and who purchased their ticket to attend the talk.
The journalist from Albacete, Juan Luis Galiacho, director of El Cierre Digital, was in charge of introducing Pedro Piqueras and, after his conference, opened a space for debate where both discussed different current issues.
During his talk, the former Telecinco news director recalled issues such as the end of ETA; the outbreak of the COVID-20 pandemic, the first vaccines; the Russian invasion of Ukraine; and the latest electoral processes that have been experienced in our country, but he also remembered his beginnings on RTVE with Pilar Miró and Jesús Hermida; the reasons for his retirement or how Carlos Franganillo was chosen to succeed him at the head of the news.
