More than 130 people participated this Wednesday morning in the land and sea cleanup in the coves of l'Almadrava and Ti Ximo, part of Serra Gelada Natural Park's 20th anniversary program. The day resulted in the collection of several dozen kilos of waste, mainly packaging, as well as the removal of 180 kilos of invasive exotic plants.

Among the participants were nearly 90 schoolchildren from two private schools in Benidorm and La Nucia, and around thirty adults who focused their efforts on the land portion of the coves. From the sea, the cleanup was carried out by the Local Police Maritime Unit, eight divers, and two other people on paddleboards. Along with all of them were Natural Park and Red Cross Benidorm personnel, Mundomar, the Davante MasterD Academy, and the City Council's rural guard.

Also part of the Serra Gelada anniversary program, the training sessions "Your sea, your history, the footprints you leave. How to explain the Natura 2000 network to your clients" were held yesterday afternoon at the José Llorca Linares community centre. The Councillor for the Environment and Beaches, Mónica Gómez, welcomed those attending this event organised by Life A-Mar. Later, at 7:10 p.m., technician Rafael Barrero Sánchez gave a talk entitled "Silene d'Ifac, from the brink of extinction to the recovery of an iconic species."
