20 February 2018

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, will raise a motion to the next ordinary plenary session to offer the Valencian Tourism Agency (AVT) municipal land for the regional administration to build a new Tourism Center (CdT) in the city. The proposal comes a month after the meeting between the mayor and the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, in which both shared "the intention of promoting the construction of a new CdT" that completes "better the Valencian Institute of Tourism Technologies" (Invattur).

In his motion, Pérez recalls that Domingo Devesa center in Benidorm was the first of the CdT's network in the Valencian Community, and that since its launch in 1995, "a large number of professionals in the sector have gone to its classrooms to train " In addition, it affects "the important role of the CdT" as the "backbone" of training and professionalization of the tourism sector and the "need to have new facilities capable of responding to the new challenges of tourism training".

As the mayor promised in his meeting with the regional secretary of Tourism on January 12, the City Council has applied in the search for "an ideal location" for the new CdT, proposing for it a municipal land next to Invattur . Pérez indicates in his motion that this location allows "to configure an excellent core of services dedicated to training, innovation and excellence dedicated" to tourism.

The motion that will be issued tomorrow in the Inland System Information Commission and that will be debated on Monday, February 26, proposes to transfer to the AVT "the City Council's interest in collaborating with the Valencian Government's project to build a new CdT ", as well as making the technical documentation of the municipal lands reach the regional administration so that they can study its viability.

Likewise, and in case of supporting this location, it proposes to request the AVT to "proceed to the formal request for the initiation of the file" for "the assignment" of the land, as well as the needs report of the new CdT building to study it. the municipal technicians.
