Local professionals attend the Equality course about 'The trafficking of women and girls for the purpose of sexual exploitation'

Today the course 'Intervening from the local for the eradication of trafficking of women and girls for the purpose of sexual exploitation', organized by the Council of Equality of Benidorm Town Council, which has been running in the hall of the Casa del Fester, has begun Paquita Ripoll, with the support of the Miguel Hernández University, Visit Benidorm and the State Pact against gender violence.

The course takes place today, Thursday and tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and consists of five topics grouped into three blocks, with the aim of raising awareness and educating the professionals of the administration and local entities about the causes that generate gender violence. They will also serve as a theoretical framework to understand and work on the crime of trafficking in women and girls for the purpose of sexual exploitation as a phenomenon associated with prostitution.

The first block is devoted to the historical and conceptual contextualization of different gender violence. Taught by the teacher Francisca Tormo Hernández, she addresses issues such as the origin of discrimination and gender violence; as well as its causes, deepening in cultural, economic, legal and political factors, dismantling myths of gender identity, sexual division at work or education of youth and adolescents with a gender perspective.

The second block, also taught by Francisca Tormo with Professor María Jesús Navarro Ríos, revolves around the crime of trafficking in women for the purpose of sexual exploitation, focusing on situations of vulnerability and prostitution as elements that favor trafficking in women; as well as the 'modus operandi' of the mafias of prostitution and the current legislation in this regard.

The third block focuses on work from the local level to act against sexual exploitation. This section will deal with the detection and identification of victims of trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and how to combat it; as well as the role of municipalities in the fight against trafficking in women and girls. It will also deepen in legislative aspects, in the application of the ordinances and in the strategic lines of action.
